Newtopia (pronounced: []) has been a German Reality-TV-Show produced by the Dutch TV-Producer John de Mol for at first the Netherlands with the name „Utopia“. In Germany the serieshas bees produced from February till July 2015, produced by „Talpa Germany“ and shown by the TV-company SAT1.
A group of 15 Participants has been settled on a shielded piec of land near the German town Zeesen in Brandenburg. There them was given the task to develop a kind of society of their own. On the place there were installed lots of cameras in order to watch the activities of the residents 24/7.
Also some people of our Givers-Movement have been asked, whether they were interested in participation. We decided finally not to participate in that soap opera, but to catch the ball of the idea and start a project by ourselves, which we called „Real-Utopia“. With this name we want to transport into the world that utopies of a new, conscious and benevolent society can be put right now into practice, if we just are willing to engage ourselves for it and participate in the endeavour.
This is our conclusion after about one year „Real-Utopia“:
It has been some work
a.) to create a practical-life-frame at the ‚wild‘ real-utopia-place near the city Marburg…
b.) to form a solidarity-group, for example in order to negotiate with neighbours, officials of the city, critics and so on… ; the project is now connected with a NGO and with the start of several neighbourhood- and community-projects around it…
c.) start public documentation of the project, take part in some events etc…
